Why We Need to Learn CPR from Manav Pietro's blog

CPR is considered one of the essential skills in administrating First-Aid. Yet, there are not enough people who enroll to learn it. This is despite the research that shows how beneficial CPR training can be for the survival rate in case of cardiac arrests. For instance, did you know:

• More than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen in the US every year.
• 70% of Americans reported feeling helpless when witnessing a cardiac arrest due to limited knowledge.
• Of the 70% Americans who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, only about 46% survive.
• Knowledge of CPR can triple up the changes of victim’s survival till the medical help arrive.

It is also important to note here that the method of administrating CPR can differ according to age.

CPR for adults: Compressions should be made with two hands. There should be two breaths for every 30 chest compressions.

CPR for children: In case of one rescuer, it should be two breaths for every 30 chest compressions. In case of two rescuers, this can be rationed as two breaths for every 15 chest compressions.

CPR for infants: Compressions should be made with two fingers — the index and the middle fingers. There should be one breath for every 3 chest compressions.

CPR Training teaches us the right method of this essential First-Aid.
