The casino Londonhas gone through many phases in its lifetime. From small lotteries to big casinos — it has been an eventful journey.


1934:The law was amended to liberalise the lotteries. As a result, the ban on lotteries was relaxed with small lotteries now becoming legal.


1960:UK’s Betting and Gambling Act came into effect, opening up the way for commercial bingo halls. But these were only open to members.


1968:The Gaming Act 1968 came into effect, paving the way for casinos to operate under the Game Board of Great Britain license. The Gaming Act 1968 also allowed games like Baccarat and Chemmy.


1994:Prime Minister John Major inaugurated the first national lottery. The popular games of the time were Lotto, Lotto plus 5, Lotto Hotpicks and Scratchcards.


2005:The Gambling Commission was established under the Gambling Act 2005. The purpose of the commission was to regulate commercial gambling. The Act allowed the development of big casinos in UK, including casino London. It also included new provisions for Internet gambling.


2013:The Gambling Commission took over the National Lottery Commission.


2014:The Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act came into effect. It brought consistent regulation to all remote gambling operations.
