One of the main functions of painting a surface is to give it a beautiful appearance. By using dyes of different colors you can get a product with any design. Powder coating of the surface is one of the latest technical solutions in painting work. Its technology is simple and reliable, and the effect is simply excellent. Features of using chrome paint metal give the product or part an excellent appearance, regardless of the shade of the dye. And if you choose the right color and follow all the dyeing technology, the result will be visually little different from anodizing the surface. If you want your prefabricated structure to appear monolithic and chrome-plated, and galvanic processing equipment is not available, then powder painting in chrome metallic color is your choice.

Powder coating technology

The main physical difference between powder dye and conventional analogues is the absence of a liquid component in it. This substance is a mixture of solid nanoparticles including film-forming resins, hardeners, coloring pigments and special additives. By uniformly covering the part or product, a uniform color with the same texture is achieved.

It is worth pointing out that spraying occurs using an electrostatic effect. The paint particles become positively charged at the gun nozzle and adhere to the negatively charged surface of the part until polymerization is complete. After final hardening, the powder paint forms a monolithic layer, giving the product a beautiful appearance. This is especially true when using metallic shades: gold, silver or chrome.

The magic of powder coating chrome metallic

The technology of chrome plating of products is one of the types of coating using galvanoplasty. However, this procedure requires the use of special equipment and the presence of an electrolytic bath. It is the dimensions of this design that limit the dimensions of the processed product. With powder coating in chrome metallic color there are no such restrictions. Here the dimensions depend on the volume of the heat treatment chamber, which has a simple design and can be increased to the required parameters even in an enterprise with small production capacity.

Powder chromepaint after polymerization forms an even metal-like layer. The products look futuristic. If the surface has been carefully processed, then after painting the structure creates the impression of a monolith. The mirror polished surface reflects the surroundings and structural elements, while looking simply stunning. This effect is often used in art and design work.

South Korean sculptor Kang Dong Hyun uses chrome metallic powder coating to give his creations an indescribable expression. Animal sculptures assembled from individual metal branches seem to appear from the void. The lighting design of the chrome framed figures against a dark background makes them look surreal and out of this world.

It is technically impossible to produce such masterpieces by casting the entire sculpture at once. But Kang Dong Hyun learned to assemble his works from separate, already smooth elements, and then achieve the integrity of the created figure using a chrome paint kit for car.

How to apply powder paint correctly

The entire procedure for applying powder paint is divided into:

  • preparatory surface treatment;
  • dye spraying;
  • heat treatment.

During preparatory work, the surface is cleaned of rust, dirt, stains, oil and grease stains. The initial stages of cleaning are carried out using metal brushes, sandblasting or water jetting. The final part of this process involves degreasing with chemicals.

Paint is applied in the workshop using a special gun. An additional advantage of this method is that the powder that has fallen from the product, with additional equipment, is collected and reused. The normal powder paint consumption rate is 150-180 g/m2.

The final stage is heat treatment of the product. In a special chamber, the temperature of the product is 150-220°C. Powder microparticles melt under the influence of temperature. The finished coloring matter immediately adheres to the surface and forms a monolithic layer when the temperature drops.

Powder coating is beautiful, practical and technologically simple. This method is becoming increasingly popular in the final processing of metal products and structures.
