Entrance to the garage: what should it be made of? from mila eryomina's blog

The driveway to the garage for many, it is a banal element of home infrastructure. The choice of material is, in fact, very important, and its functionality is crucial.

How functional this interlocking driveway isdepends, of course, on its design included in the house design.

Entrance to the garage made of clinker bricks

The structure of clinker bricks absorbs little moisture. This means it can be successfully used on surfaces exposed to heavy water, including garage driveways. It is highly resistant to mechanical overload and slip-resistant. Another advantage of clinker is its appearance. Today there are an abundance of shades on the market from red to brown, yellow, graphite and black. An interesting alternative to the well-known clinker brick is its handmade variety. It has a characteristic, rough and uneven surface.

Access to the garage made of natural stone

Masonry is most often made from hard rocks of igneous origin, which are characterized by very high resistance to abrasion and physical impact. A true alternative to expensive igneous rocks are sandstone-based solutions. However, it should be noted that, firstly, they are characterized by much greater absorbency, and secondly, they are much less able to withstand heavy loads that occur on the driveway. The undoubted advantage of the stone is its interesting design. Its specific feature is the so-called aging, which somewhat changes the appearance of the stone. The thickness of the stone elements used to line the roadway should be from six to ten centimeters.

Concrete driveway to garage

The advantage of concrete is its relatively low price, although it is more susceptible to mechanical stress than stone. The myth is that concrete in your driveway is boring. This opinion is wrong. Concrete elements can be beveled, sharp and rounded. During the production process, a special aggregate is added to some of them, which creates a characteristic structure on their surface.

What should be the standard thickness of a concrete base for a driveway? It is best to use elements with a thickness of six centimeters.
