I do not necessarily know if this is the right response, your average mmo player is going to be more comfortable using OSRS gold and it's game mechanics, and that is coming out of a completely osrs player who had been maxed pre eoc, the Truth Is That rs3 Is a Superb game in a Great Deal of respects, and much nearer to other mmos out there, sure it's mtx but it's absolutely not necessary to triumph , the quests are totally killer and the combat can be fun if you're into this kinda thing If You Would like the runescape you've always pictured in your head, 

Play osrs, it is a bit outdated but it's just getting better with a stupidly passionate dev team behind it listens into the community and let's them pick exactly what goes into the game, definitely go with osrs, it's a stupidly addictive clicking simulator which will trap you worse than the nastiest of medication habits If you want another mmo with one hell of a background that could be somewhat described as wow with mtx plus a runescape theme, proceed with rs3, the reality is that they both have their areas and audiences that enjoy them, however osrs is definitely the winner between the two to many people, thus why it carries everywhere between 2-5x more players online at any given moment

Honestly if you've never tried , try them both, aside from the Cheap Runescape gold entire world and the lore along with the set of skills to train they've basically evolved into two entirely different games, osrs in my opinion is just way far less generic and ridiculously over the top, plus it is exactly what most older players actually know, and also what they fell in love with to begin with.

I'd vouch for you to attempt OSRS, in case you do not mind the mill, it's over 2x the playerbase and is not infested with MTX, unlike RS3.
