Forty three percent of workers said they called in sick when they felt well at least once during the work year. The most popular reason for missing work: good, old fashioned rest. Almost 23 percent of workers said they just wanted to relax and catch up on sleep. Meanwhile, 17 percent said they just didn't feel like going in, 16 percent attributed it to a doctor's appointment, and nine percent said they had to catch up on housework and look after personal matters. Like Aussie workers, a large percentage of US workers surveyed (38 percent) said they viewed sick days as being equivalent to annual leave.
